Top 10 wealthiest Malaysians in 2010

The fortunes of Malaysia's 40 wealthiest are rising too. They are worth a total of US$51bil, up from US$36bil a year ago and even higher than the US$46bil they were collectively worth in 2008.

Robert Kuok and Ananda Krishnan maintained their status as the country's two wealthiest men. They are worth a combined US$20.1bil, or 40 per cent of the top 40's wealth.

Malaysia's 10 billionaires are worth US$30bil, accounting for 59 percent of the total.

Vincent Tan is back in the billionaires club this year after a year hiatus. His fortune doubled thanks to a jump in the Berjaya stocks. He is spending some of his money on British football club, Cardiff City.

Another big gainer was Genting's Lim Kok Thay, who is gambling US$5bil on his company's newly opened Singapore resort and casino.
